Egypt lift cup on home soil

The hosts Egypt won the African Cup of Nations for a record 5th time. Cameroon and Tunisia were hopeful of reaching the final, but it was Ivory Coast who achieved this by knocking out Cameroon along the way and beating Nigeria who had ended Tunisia’s reign.

Togo who reached the World Cup were disappointing, while Guinea impressed. South Africa went out without a fight. The effect of all the results on the rankings can be seen at: www.rankfootball.com
